Humility or Humiliation?

For some time I've been debating whether or not to share videos of my early years as a tanguera. Like so many of us do when we start, I felt that I could feel it deeper as well as express it better than anyone else.

Aaaahh.... what a difference a video makes.

I hesitated to post this because unfortunately, sometimes the pictures in our head don't quite match cold reality.... Also, I wanted to pre-empt any blackmailers out there. Why I did decide to post them remains a mystery.

This first of two videos I will be posting was my first "big" show. As a matter of possible literary and/or historical interest, this is the performance I write about in The Tao of Tango.

Not too long afterwards, my partner and I did the same number for an even BIGGER show in Tijuana. Yes, Tango in Tijuana - that's a title for something, for sure! Actually, we also danced a Tango. But that one's way too painful... The good news is that I'm much better these days...

My partner is Raul Peroto - the milonguero with whom I danced for 2 years, and to whom I owe my solid, if unconventional, tango foundations. In my defense, I'd only been dancing about a 6 months in this video.

May it serve as warning - or inspiration - to someone :-)

Stay tuned for a TV performance with none other than Moti!

Oh, you were cute there! I think you did a very nice job for just six months of dancing. You had little "prancing" feet.

Although this post did make Explorer crash and I had to restart it. But I think that is a total coincidence. ;-)

You got me all worked up because I thought your video was going to be something along these lines:

You are too kind. Although your IE seems to differ... :-)

If I'd looked like those two in our favorite what-were-they-thinking video, I'd have joined the Foreign Legion and NOT posted the evidence.
